We have encountered some technical difficulties with blogger (attempting to give admin capabilities to each other and posting problems) but now everything seems to be alright! We are considering moving our Design is {} study to FaceBook as that would be easier for students and faculty to interact with us. What do you think about that? Do you think that FaceBook would be easier to follow and post on rather than blogger which requires a member to have particular e-mail accounts? We have been getting a lot of responses about people attempting to join and follow us but they have been encountering many problems.

Besides from these issues, we have been progressing quite a bit. We will be interviewing several members of the design staff this week and will be sharing those results with you all. Here are some of the questions that we have sent faculty, and will ask during the interviews:

1. What is design?
2. Why is design important?
Where wan we find design?
Why did you choose the design field?
How is design different than art?
Would you say design is an easy major?
Why did you choose to teach at UCD?
How have you seen the design department change on campus?
Would you say it is a ‘respected’ major?
What would you like your students to have more of a background in before coming to the design program?
Do you think students and faculty outside of the design department have an understanding about design and its importance?

What do you think of these questions? Can you think of anymore questions that we need to add on for the faculty? Can you think of any questions you'd like to ask other students as well as other design students? Thanks everyone!

Hello and welcome to all designers!

This is an open blog for all designers to write about design. We are trying to send out a positive message about design. Our goal is to spread awareness about what design is and what designers do on the UC Davis campus, as well as around the world!

We feel that most people that aren't designers are confused as to what a designer is and how much time goes into executing a design or even an idea! There are visual communicators, fashion designers, textile designers, interior architecture designers, exhibition designers and more!

Please contribute to this blog and let us know what you think design is! How did you decide you wanted to be a designer? How did you get into the field of design? How much time and energy do you usually put into your designs? (Think brainstorming, sketching, determining colors, etc.) Post what you have on your mind about design! Also feel free to post some of your design work, or work of other designers you know!

Every week we will post a different design that has been contributed through comments. So please post what you'd like people to see. Keep it clean and positive!
